Hamburgers and fries. Milk and cookies. Cake and ice cream. Spaghetti and meatballs. What do these combinations all have in common? Yes, that’s right – they are all part of the FOOD category. On April 2nd, families, educators and advocates around the world will be celebrating World Autism Awareness Day by acknowledging the unique talents of those with autism, and spotlighting the hurdles that people living with autism face every day.

Coincidentally International Children’s Book Day is also on April 2nd and people around the world will be inspiring a love of reading and shouting out amazing and well-loved children’s books.

What a combo! April 2nd is the day, my friends, for you to pick up a book, read it aloud to your students or your child at bedtime, and show you care by celebrating autism awareness day. Autism awareness day and Children’s Book day is the perfect combination of events to celebrate the joy of reading.
