Holiday gift guides, toy catalogs, and children’s wish lists! We are just weeks away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and I am starting to see holiday gift guides pop up here and there on social media. I would love to share some inspiration for giving gifts that are friendly to the earth, perhaps eco-friendly but are perfect for the people you love and appreciate this holiday season.

Holiday Gift Guides for that Teacher in your life

If you’re looking for a gift idea for the teachers in your life, there are many options. You can offer a gift card to teacherspayteachers (an online teacher resource site), or how about a Starbucks gift card for the tea and coffee lover that needs a cute, reusable travel mug.

Furthermore, another option is to gift the educator in your life a pair of funky earrings. I absolutely love the jewellery made by dauphinette. Check out the real slice of fig fruit in this jewelry piece. Jawdropping. Bonus is that it is preserved in eco-friendly tree resin!

Holiday Gift Guides for Kids

In reality, kids get excited when you start talking about the things they want and usually that means – yes, you guessed it. Toys!

However, toys don’t just have to come from the regular toy store. Although, they are exciting, too! Thinking outside the box here will get you extra brownies points.

Why not try picking up some items from the thrift store? My kids love to have tea parties and they would love tea cups, saucers and silver spoons. The feeling they will get from feeling like they’re old enough for the “real deal” is priceless!

Additionally, you can pick up spoons, bowls, kitchen utensils and add them to your outdoor mud kitchen. The outdoor mud kitchen can be used throughout the seasons. Mainly used with sand, mud and water in the warmer months, mud kitchens can be fun in the snow, too!

Ideas for Last Minute Gifts!

In my experience, there’s always that last gift you need to pick up for that one tricky-to-buy-for person. No matter how much planning and prepping you do, it can be a challenge to find the perfect gift. As far as I know, there are a few go-to gift ideas that are always a hit.

A Framed Piece – One year I framed a bunch of maps of all the places I had traveled with my husband. As it happens, he recently brought up how much he appreciated that gift and how heartfelt it was. Cue happy tears!

A Mini-Collection – If not maps are not your thing, you might find a set of something to give. These are things that I people I know happen to collect:

Weather Ready Items – Here in Canada we experience the four seasons in their full capacity. I feel lucky about that most days. Ultimately, being prepared for the weather is not only a daily requirement but can also be a struggle – especially with kids. They lose things. Truth be told, so do I! All I can here is – doubles of everything! Keeping extra socks, mitts, and blankets is something we do – in the car, in the classroom, in all the rooms of the house. As an example, here’s a list of must-have Winter extras:
