Description
Practice building creativity with this art lesson by drawing and colouring designs of ALL kinds – all on 9 squares, the Creativity Grid!
What is a Creativity Grid?
In this art lesson, the creativity grid is simply a 3×3 grid forming nine mini canvases. Students complete each square (or mini canvas) and attempt to complete each square of the grid in a different way, boosting creative thinking skills. Each page has a clear focus for students to use when drawing – from lines to animals to garden life! This is the perfect activity to add to clipboards for outdoor classroom fun, use in art hub activities, art centres, morning work, early finishers, guest teachers and homework.
How does this art lesson work?
Amazingly, the Creativity Grid is a process where students will draw a particular concept nine different ways on a 3×3 grid. Repetitive practice allows students the opportunity to improve on every concept that is presented. Because of the consistency in the grid presentation, student will know exactly what to expect with each lesson. They often find completing the grid a challenge so their will need to perserve and dig deep to allow their creative ideas to shine!
Art Lessons can be easy to prep!
Your students can build their art portfolio with each and every grid completed. They could add it to an art journal or a duotang. Alternatively, you can create a journal (title pages included!) by printing all the grids at the beginning of the school year and voila! Your prep work is done. Don’t forget to add in a few art critique form and get your students reflecting on their work.
